Current Season
The Academy
Salford City’s academy started in 2017, starting with two teams at under-17s and under-18s level. Both sides went on to win two league titles and had very impressive FA Youth Cup runs.
The next major development for the academy came in 2023 when they upgraded to a category three academy, which means that from the age group of under-9s to under-18s the club will be scouting talent with also competing in tournaments and leagues. In the 2023/24 season Salford also fielded the youngest player to ever compete in the FA Cup as 15-year-old Marshall Heys played for the Ammies against Shrewsbury Town. Another accolade that the club can put their name to is that they have produced 50 players who have made men’s first team debuts.
Other academy graduates from Salford City's academy have gone on to play at a higher level in English football, such as: Brandon Thomas-Asante, who plays for Coventry City in the Championship, Douglas James Taylor has gone on to play in the top tier of Irish football at Drogheda United. Another highly rated prospect currently at the club Kelly Nmai, who started at the Salford academy aged 16.
